A Trump win would endanger all

Do you think Trump could win in November?

The words “Trump and Vance” in big red letters

If the Trump/Vance ticket wins in November, it would be very bad for America, as Thom Hartmann has written today.

It would also be bad for Europe, as Trump would let Russia take Ukraine, and Russia already has its eyes on several neighbouring countries.

It would also be bad for the world, as NATO countries could be dragged into World War Three and other countries would take sides.

It would also be bad for Britain. It would embolden the British far right, particularly those who fraternise with the Trump camp, right wing think tanks and billionaires. For example Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Nigel Farage. The latter two have abandoned their constituents to visit their friends in America (Truss neglected hers before losing the election, Farage had only just been elected when he jetted off to hold Trump’s hand or ear).

Britain would also no longer have a reliable ally in the USA.

Fortunately, the Tories were soundly trounced at the election. But they are unrepentant. And a Trump win would give them great encouragement.

And America has shown that although the Democrats have been a great improvement on the Republicans, right wing politicians and media have lied and persuaded many that the opposite is true and that it is immigrants and the age of the candidate that matter rather than how well conditions have improved for the rest of us.

Labour may do a lot of good in the next 5 years, but they have a steep hill to climb and a robust right wing media against them, so they could be very vulnerable at the next election.

So it is in everyone’s interest (except that of the billionaires and their hangers-on) to hope that Trump loses.
